We were running a regional team across Singapore, Jakarta, and Manila. Every transcription tool failed on our meetings because we code-switch — mixing English with Bahasa, Singlish particles, local idioms. The AI just didn't get it.
We spent weeks trying tools. Otter, Fireflies, Google Meet captions. All of them mangled the meaning. So we stopped transcribing entirely and went back to manual notes.
Then we decided to fix it ourselves. BYSIK is what we wish had existed from the start.
The Problem
They were trained on clean, monolingual audio. When they encounter code-switched speech — which is how every Southeast Asian professional actually talks — they break. The words get garbled, the grammar gets "corrected," and the meaning is lost.
Regional teams end up spending 20–30 minutes per meeting manually fixing transcripts. Or they just stop using transcription entirely, losing the only benefit it offers: saving time.
For a 10-person team meeting three times a week, that's 500+ hours a year wasted on a tool that doesn't understand how you speak. That's the problem we're solving.
Our Approach
BYSIK was trained on real code-switched audio from Southeast Asian professionals — not monolingual English datasets. When you say "cannot lah, server go down already," we know what you mean. We preserve that meaning instead of mangling it into something grammatically correct but semantically broken.
Works on Zoom, Teams, Google Meet — anywhere your team already meets. No new apps. No behavior change.
Action items, decisions, and summaries — automatically extracted from what was actually said, not a garbled version of it.
Singlish, Taglish, Bahasa Campur, mixed Thai-English — trained on the actual way SE Asian professionals communicate.
Recording laws vary across SG, MY, ID, and the rest of the region. BYSIK helps your team stay on the right side of them automatically.
The Team
Christo managed regional teams across Singapore, Jakarta, and Manila and watched every transcription tool fail on code-switched speech. After months of manually fixing transcripts and watching teammates give up on the tools entirely, he decided to build the version that should have existed already.
Alpha-tested by founders, students, and teams across Singapore, Indonesia, and Australia who gave us the honest feedback we needed to build something real.
What We Believe
We're not a US tool with a localization layer. We're built ground-up for multilingual teams — from the training data to the compliance features. Southeast Asia is not a market we're expanding into. It's where we started.
When you say "cannot lah," we don't "fix" it to "we cannot do that." Monolingual grammar correction destroys meaning. We keep your voice — and the intent behind it — intact in every transcript.
Recording laws are different in every SE Asian country. We don't pretend compliance is someone else's problem. We help you navigate it — disclosure notifications, consent workflows, audit trails — built in by default.
Your meeting notes should be ready before you've finished your coffee. Not 20 minutes of cleanup. Not a wall of garbled text to decode. Notes that are actually useful, immediately after the meeting ends.
Why Southeast Asia
Southeast Asia's tech ecosystem is one of the fastest-growing in the world. Companies in Singapore, Jakarta, Manila, and Bangkok are building regional teams, raising international funding, and operating across five or six jurisdictions at once.
But the infrastructure they're using — the productivity tools, the AI systems, the meeting platforms — was built for a different market. Built for US offices where everyone speaks the same language. Built on datasets that don't reflect how SE Asian professionals actually communicate.
That gap is an opportunity. We're not the only ones who see it. But we're the ones who decided to do something about it — starting with the most painful and most universal problem: getting useful notes out of a meeting where everyone code-switches.
Early Believers
Our alpha testers gave us the unfiltered feedback we needed — what broke, what didn't make sense, and what actually saved them time. These are the people who shaped BYSIK into what it is.
Finally a tool that doesn't embarrass me when I share the transcript. Our Singlish used to come out completely garbled. This is the first time I've felt confident sharing meeting notes with clients.
I'm studying in Australia but I still take calls with my family's business team back in Jakarta. The mixed Indonesian-English was always a disaster with other tools. BYSIK actually gets it.
We've tried four or five tools over the past two years. None of them worked well for our team because we switch between Indonesian and English constantly. BYSIK is the first one worth keeping.
As a founder running a team across multiple cities, I need transcription that works. BYSIK handles our code-switching in a way I stopped expecting any tool to actually do.
